About Keshav

Keshav Kumar is a data engineer who designs and runs cloud-native ELT pipelines. His work sits where most data teams spend their time: lakehouses on Databricks and Delta Lake, warehouses on Snowflake, transformations in PySpark, SQL and dbt, and orchestration with Apache Airflow and Azure Data Factory on Microsoft Azure and AWS. He has also modernised legacy Vertica systems and moved large Spark estates onto Unity Catalog governance.

DataDank started with his own interview preparation. The material was everywhere: SQL in one place, PySpark in another, system design, Databricks, Snowflake and interview questions spread across a dozen sites, with no clear order. He built DataDank to be the structured path he was missing: one route from SQL fundamentals to system design, a runnable example behind every concept, links to official documentation for every claim, and a 90-day plan to keep learners on track.

Selected work

  • Medallion lakehouse transformation framework

A reusable bronze, silver and gold framework in dbt on Databricks and Delta Lake, with Jinja macros and automated tests, now running more than 60 models. New pipelines start from a governed template instead of a blank file, with lineage built in.

  • Unity Catalog governance migration

Moved more than 80 PySpark workloads onto Unity Catalog with fine-grained access policies, so security and metadata are managed in one place across business domains.

  • Vertica to Snowflake migration

Rewrote a legacy Vertica SQL codebase for Snowflake and redesigned the transformation logic: ETL runtime fell by 40%, dashboard refresh went from 30 minutes to under 5, and no data was lost.

How he writes for DataDank

Keshav runs DataDank and is responsible for its lessons, interview answers and projects. Examples are executed before they are published and state the versions they ran on, technical claims link to official documentation, and pages are reviewed again when the tools change. The About page explains the editorial process in full, including how AI tools are used.
